I don't get it!

Lets say your child was exhibiting all the symptoms of Hypothyroidism.

Lets say that same child came back with TSH levels of 8.92 when the top normal range is 4.2.

Lets say that child's doctor said the levels are not high enough to treat.

Would you be slightly confused? And maybe even a little angry?

Yeah - I think it is time to see a new doctor.

Ya know sometimes ya gotta wonder...huh? I wanted to share something with you. My endo said that in Jan they came out with a new cut of range. while 4.2 is the cut off they like to see the range much lower ...I have hypo and felt awful. I had no idea what was wrong. My level was not that high. Yet when I started meds it took many increases in meds to control. I started with 25 mg, then 50, 88, 112 and now 125. It took a while but I finally feel great. And to think my hypo was not a big deal according to the lab work. In fact your son's level is worse then mine.
Good for you for following through.
I am anxious to see what they say. Maybe a endo is a better choice for a follow up.

What does wikipedia say?

besides the cut off being lowered, it was told to me that I could interview a dr. before I went to him. I did that and found a GP that I liked and knew a few things about hypo.

go find another DR!!!!

Hypothyroidism is a very tricky thing to detect. I went to quite a few doctors before I found out that my thyroid was way out of wack. My endocrinologist is fantastic! Unfortunately he's retiring in June, but he has a team of other endos, if you'd like their number, e-mail me. I also have a number for a pediatric endocrinologist that Dr. Block refered my kids to. Fortunately, their tests showed up negative (although I wonder sometimes), but I can give you her info too.

Don't give up! If you feel something's not right, 9 out of 10 times you're right!!

By all means, to as quickly as you can to find the right doctor. Quite obviously, the one you have been using is the WRONG doctor! Praying for the Lord to guide you to the right place immediately!

Many hugs.............

Let us know what you find out. I have wondered at times whether that was what was wrong with my Abby--but not sure where to start.
