My Angry Little Laundry Gremlin

What would you expect after doing laundry for 4 days STRAIGHT??? Multiple loads a day? From sunrise until sundown??? A beautifully empy laundry room, right?

Wrong!

I certainly wouldn't expect THIS!!!!!

That's FIVE baskets of laundry folks!!! FIVE! Each basket is 2 to 3 LOADS!!!

Seriously?

There is something wrong here. Where is this Laundry Gremlin and how do I rid myself of him???

Now, don't think for a second that my children actually put these clothes into the right baskets... Oh no. This is what I found on the floors, UNDER beds, ON beds, BEHIND beds, in closests and in toy bins... AFTER I thought I was all done with the laundry.

Then there is this STUPID sock. It is a loner. It never gets worn... hasn't been worn in MONTHS. Yet no matter what I do with it, it ends up here, in the laundry. I can put it in the sock basket, children's drawers, donate pile -- even the garbage -- But somehow, it ends up HERE. For some reason, This item DOES make it into the baskets.

EVERYTIME!!!

Seriously Kathy--if you are still doing laundry with one of those little machines--you HAVE to get the BIG one! One of those baskets can seriously fit into my machine. You just turned 6 loads into 3. It will save your life and your sanity!!! It's time...

Laundry is my least favorite chore as a mother. I HATE it. Sorry you have so much.

We do have the big one. We just like to split the loads in half of what other people use for load sizes. We have the biggest capacity washer available. Glad to hear someone besides me thinks an entire basket will fit in one load! :)

I HATE LAUNDRY! But not more than I hate dishes or mopping or scrubbing toilets.

ONE sock!!?? That's all you have that doesn't match?? I have a whole basket full of socks that don't match. You'd think after time their matches would show up....it's not like my family goes around wearing one sock at a time. I just don't get it!

WOW, that same gremlin is at my house too!! Only instead of one LONE sock, NO, I've got MANY. FROM TWO BOYS! GROWN BOYS-ONE TEENAGER and ONE 21 year old MALE! WHAT ON EARTH happens to those dang socks?? They drive me CRAZY! So glad to know I'm not alone!

ugh. I just finished an entire week of all day everyday laundry madness. In a lame attempt to clean ALL the linens and store them properly, that and the fact that e had to use EVERY blanket and about half the towels recently to wrap/protect a dining set as it traveled in the rain about 6 hours in the back of a truck. OY! I feel your pain.

As far as "get a bigger washer" How about get a bigger paycheck too? Who can afford those things? I want one, but yikes!

I only have three boys, but I think housework is a waste of time. I don't mind doing laundry, but I hate putting the clean clothes away.

I just found your blog, I love it.

hilarious! Not really, but I feel your pain. I would get every stitch of laundry done (for real this time) and totally burn that dang sock.
Then I would blog about it.

I found your blog via a comment you made on another. My sister has nine children- yes, she's only slightly sane. She gathered all the laundry in the house, washed it all and put it all on the floor of the family room. She instructed all the children under 12 to pick out their 5 favorite outfits, 6 pairs of undies and 6 pairs of socks, two Sunday outfits. The older kids got a few more things. When they were through she gathered everything else and took it to Goodwill. She's a happy camper!
